Am I correct in figuring that the following boxes are the closest to
the Dulles airport:
Frying Pan Park in Herndon
Christmas Tree Graveyards in Reston
I'm going to Alaska in September, and on the trip home from Dulles to
Richmond, I won't be in any rush, so I was going to take a few hours
and do some letterboxing. But I've spent most of my life in central
Virginia and have a fuzzy idea at best of where all the 'burbs are in
relation to each other and in relation to Dulles in NoVA. Any advice
from residents would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Marsha ~
Both are within 10 minutes of
each other and the airport. When coming from the airport on the Dulles
Toll Road, Christmas Tree Graveyard is off exit 13 and Frying Pan Park
is exit 10 (if I'm not mistaken ~ it may be exit 11). We picked up the
Christmas Tree Graveyard box while visiting my sister in Reston a few weeks
ago. Time was not on our side so we were not able to get any of the others
in the area ~ not even the ones in DC that I had hoped to get. Oh well,
maybe next time. Not sure when we'll make the trip from
Connecticut down there again ~ maybe next year.
Enjoy your trip to Alaska and
your Letterboxing side trip!
Warmest
regards,
Ellen

The two boxes at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park in Chantilly, Virginia are quite
close to Dulles. On Rt 28 just before junction with 66. Beautiful park, too!
